Great magazine, had the pleasure of meeting Steve Piercey once at an airshow. Great that the magazine survives with good stories and photographs. Superb articles on the Spantax,Trans Europa and TAE piston days. My uncle took me to Stansted c.1964 and watched a Martinair DC-7C start up and depart, when I was 11.

Hello Kevin
in 1966 I took a Cosmos Holiday to Italy near the border with Monaco. My family and I flew out from Manston on Air Ferry DC-6 G-APNO and returned on G-APNP. These were my first flights and, while exciting, did not register with me until i went propliner crazy in the mid 1970s. Wish I had a camera then..
I met Steven Piercey at Miami Airport and we became friends. He roped me in to obtain and supply a number of pictures for early editions of Propliner - including XA-NUW the DC-4M at Mexico City, the Chilean DC-6 line up at Opa Locka and the Constellations at Stephenville. I sat next to Steven on his organised enthusiast flight from LGW on DC-6 HB-IBS. Many know that this aircraft is actually ex G-APNO, flew in Biafra and had patched up bullet holes in the fuselage. Ah memories....

Tony,

Well done again with the latest issue. The Sagittair Argosy in the colour spread was a joy!

I am glad to see that the magazine is still being published. Does anyone have some back issues available (nos. 1 & 2 and from 12 onwards)?

Can anyone shed some light on a travel experience I had as a child in the 1960's? My family and I flew from Manston (Kent) to Italy on board a DC6b, my father tells me that the airline was named Air Bridge Charter but I can't find any record of this company, can anyone help?

Just read the awesome piece about Baginton. Had me in tears. I started 'spotting' at Elmdon in 1967 and visited Coventry that year, so Constellations and G-APEZ are fixed, seared upon my cerebral cortex.. Sadly the only camera my brother and I possessed was a Brownie Box. The props of this era are still as fresh in my mind today as they were then. From G-AIVF Invicta Viking and EI-APC B170 Aer Turas struggling to get off the short runway at Elmdon; parting the wheat in it's wake as it flew at what seemed like 20ft in the direction of Coventry over the fields...I still have a framed b/w picture of me in my gaberdene school mac at the tender age of 12 standing under G-ANTF at Baginton. Ye Gods the tales I could tell of my adventures with props and airfields from the days before 'the security paranoia'..
